Abstract:
Realizing tritium self-sufficiency is one of the aims of the China Fusion Engineering Test Reactor(CFETR). The tritium balance method was applied to evaluate the tritium self-sufficiency of CFETR under different operating conditions. The results show that the required tritium breeding ratio(TBR
r) for tritium self-sufficiency of CFETR at 500 MW operation stage is 1.098. The estimated TBR
r is smaller than the tritium breeding ratio(TBR
a) for CFETR breeding blanket, indicating that the tritium self-sufficiency condition is theoretically achieved. Based on the evaluation, the validation strategy for CFETR tritium self-sufficiency by scheduled tritium accountancy was proposed. Under the conditions of basic input parameters and restriction of tritium inventory measuring accuracy(1%), the operating period of tritium self-sufficiency validation experiment is estimated as longer than 22 days(helium cooled blanket case) or 87 days(water cooled blanket case).
