Abstract:
The mechanism of chelate and synergistic extraction of Yb3+ ion with solutions of 1-phenyl-3-methyl-4-butyryl-pyrazrolone-5 (PMBuP or HA)-C6H5CH3,PMBuP-diphenylsulfoxide(DPSO)-C6H5CH3,PMBuP-tributyl phosphate (TBP) -C6H5CH3 and PMBuP-tributyl phosphine oxide (TBPO) -C6H5CH3 were investigated by the slope msthod and the equimolecular system method.The formulas of the extracted species are shown to be Yb-A3·HA, Yb·A3·DPSO, Yb·A3·TBP and Yb·A3·TBPO, When the concentration of TBPO increases, the formula of the extracted species might consist of Yb·A3·2TBPO.The logarithms of the extraction equilibrium constants calculated from the experimental data (25±0.5℃) are as follows.lgKc=-2.97 (Yb3+/HC1O4, NaClO4 (μ=0.1) /HA-C6H5CH3 system) : lgKc=-0.873(Yb3+/HC1O4, NaClO4 (μ = 0.1 ) /HA-DPSO-C6H5CH3 system), lgKc = 0.526 (Yb3+/HClO4, NaClO4 (μ=0.1 ) /HA-TBP-C6H5CH3 system) . lgKc = 2.25 (Yb3+/HC1O4, NaClO4 (μ=0.1) /HA-TBPO-C6H5CH3 system) .The extraction power of PMBuP is smaller than that of PMBP; the syner-gistic effect of PMBuP, however, is slightly higher than that of PMBP.
