Abstract:
A method for the investigation of the concentration of H+,coexist-ing with U(Ⅳ) in two phases of ion exchange equilibrium system is suggested. The average valance of U(Ⅳ),nu(IV) and the H+ concentration RHu(IV) in sulfate-type ion exchange resin equilibrated with 0.18-0.27N HC1 are determined to be 2.8 and 0,15N/1·bed, respectively. U(Ⅳ) exists mainly in the form of U(OH)3+ when 0.50N HC1 is used,nu(Ⅳ) reaches 3.6 and RHu(Ⅳ) is reduced to 0. 10N/1·bed.UCl3 is less than 5% of the total amount of U(Ⅳ) in the resin phase. The dependance of acid concentration in one phase on another under different U(Ⅳ) concentrations is discussed, and it is concluded that moderate acid concentration is suitable for the reduction of RHu(Ⅳ).An explanation is given.
