Abstract:
An equation used to characterize the diffusion rate of complexed metal ion is Being proposed as follows;where Ci is concentration of each species, including simple metal ion and step-wise formed complex ions-, Di, is diffusion coefficient of each species-Dr is apparent diffusion coefficient; CT =∑Ci.The diffusion coefficients of Co2+ and CoY2- were determined at 25℃ and μ= 0.10, to be DCo2+=(7.1±0.2)×10-8cm2/s, DCoY2- = (5.4±0.1)×10-6 cm2/s. When Co2+ is present in equilibrium with CoY2~ in solution, it has been demonstrated that the apparent diffusion coefficient of species containing cobalt obeys the above mentioned equation. Then, apparent diffusion coefficients of species containing UO22+ in UO22+-H2SO4 system were determined, and the diffusion coefficients of UO22+, UO2SO4, UO2(SO4)22-, UO2 (SO4)34- were calculated according to the proposed equation. The calculated value of DUO22+=5.0×10-6cm2/s agrees very well with its determined value.
