Abstract:
A. combination of rapid chemical separation with a gas -jet transport system is used to nvestigate the decay properties of iodine obtained from Ag(12C, xn) I by bombarding natural Ag with a beam of 12C at 67.4 MeV. The separation of I from Te and Sb is completed by solvent extraction within 25 to 40 seconds. The decontamination factors obtained are 60 for 113Sb, and 101 for 115Te respectively. However the decontamination for 117Te is only 17 because of decay from its precursor 117I.16 γ-rays of I with rather high intensity are obtained, the partical decay properties of 117,118,119 I are investigated and the charge number of the product is assigned. Futhermore, 7 γ-peaks that have not been obtained in the physical experiments are obtained distinctly, among which 4 γ-peaks (447.5 keV, 858.5 keV, 1303 keV and 1233 keV) have not been reported before. These 4 γ-peaks could well be γ-ray of I, but it needs further study in more detail.
