Abstract:
The extraction of fission products by N,N,N', N'-tetraphenyI-3,6-dioxaoctane diamide (TPDOD) and N,N,N', N'-tetraphenyl-3,6,9-trioxaimdecan diamide (TPTUP) is studied in this paper. The extractability of alkaline earths and rare earths by nitrobenzen soluttion of TPDOD and TPTUD is very high if the picrate is used as accompanying ion, while 137Cs ion is only extracted partially by the solution of TPTUD in nitrobenzene. DTPA and EDTA mask the lanthanides, but Fe3+ demasks them. Based upon these experiments, a simple and rapid extraction method is proposed for the isolation of carrier-free alkaline earths and rare earths from fission products mixture.
