Abstract:
The solvent extraction of Am(Ⅲ) and Cm(Ⅲ) from picric acid solution by nitrobenzene solution of N, N, N', N'-tetraphenyl-3,6-diox'aoctane diamide was investigated and compared with the extraction of cerium, neodymium and europium. The composition of extraction complexes may be represented as ML2Pic,. The distribution ratio falls down with an increase in temperature. In all the cases studied, the distribution ratio of Am(Ⅲ) is higher than Cm(Ⅲ). The average value of separation factor is 3 and increases to 5.6 when DTPA is added into the aqueous phase. The system has been applied to extractlon chromatography with good separation between Am (Ⅲ) and Cm(Ⅲ),
