STUDYONTHEINFLUENCEOFCARBONMONOXIDETOTHESURFACEOXIDELAYEROFURANIUMMETALWangXiaolinDuanRongliangFuYibeiXieRenshou(InstituteofNuclearPhysicsandChemistryofCAEP,Chengdu,610003)ZuoChangmingZhaoChunpeiChenHong(TheAnalyticalandTestingCentreofSichuanUnionUniversity,Chengdu,610064)ABSTRACTTheinfluenceofcarbonmonoxidetothesurfaceoxidelayerofuraniummetalhasbeenstudiedbyX-rayphotoelectronspectroscopy(XPS)andgaschromatography(GC).CarbonmonoxideadsorptionontheoxidelayerresultedinU4fpeakshiftingtothelowerbindingen-ergy.Thecontentofoxygenintheoxideisdecreasedandtheatomicratio(O/U)isdecreasedby7.2%.Theamountofcarbondioxideintheatmosphereafterthesurfacereactionisin-creasedby11.0%.Theinvestigationindicatesthatthesurfacelayercanpreventthefurtheroxidationuraniummetalintheatmosphereofcarbonmonxide.KeywordsUraniumCarbonmonoxideSurfaceanalysi
