THE ABSTRACTION OF INDEPENDENT CROSSSECTIONS FROM THE ACTIVITIES OF SUCCESSIVELY DECAYED DAUGHTER NUCLEIAuthor Zheng JiwenZhang LiZhao JinhuaHu Qingyuan (Institute of Modern Physics, the Chinese Academy of Sciences,LanZhou 730000) ABSTRACT A technique for abstracting independent cross section on the basis of the activities from the observed isotope itself or its successively decayed daughter nuclei was developed.It is specially applicable for determining the independent cross sictions of the isotope products involved in quick,elementseparated samples.We have used it in the isotopedistribution measurement for Hg element produced in the reaction of 600MeV18O beam bombarding on thick natural lead target,and a total of Hgisotope independent cross sections more than twenty were obtained in the mass range of 180209.Some representive examples showing how we deduced these independent cross sections are given in this paper.
