Chemical Treatment of Plutonium With Hydrogen Peroxide Before UTEVA Separation Procedure

    • The conditions of adjusting Pu valence to Pu(Ⅳ) by H2O2 were studied. H2O2 is capable of converting Pu to Pu(Ⅳ) if the Pu concentration is about 10-3g/L. The separation procedure was studied for small quantity Pu. w=1.5% H2O2 is used to adjust the valency of plutonium in 6 mol/L HNO3. UTEVA column filled with 2 mL resin which has a diameter of 50-100 μm are used to separate plutonium. The recovery of plutonium is about 108%.
