Sorption of U(Ⅵ) Onto Graphene Oxides

    • Graphene-oxides(GOs) have attracted multidisciplinary attentions because of their excellent properties such as high surface area and large amount of oxygen-containing functional groups. In this paper, the as-synthesized GOs were applied as adsorbents for the elimination of U(Ⅵ) from aqueous solutions under different experimental conditions. The effects of pH, ionic strength, temperature and concentration of GOs on the sorption of U(Ⅵ) were studied intensively. The results show that the sorption of U(Ⅵ) on GOs is mainly dominated by the formation of inner-sphere surface complexation. After sorption, the adsorbed U(Ⅵ) can be desorbed from GOs completely after the treatment with high concentration of acid. And GOs can be reused for the sorption of U(Ⅵ) without obvious decrease of sorption ability. GOs may be a very suitable nanomaterial in the treatment of radioactive wastewater in future.
