    Synthesis of Calixarene Derivative and Its Adsorption Properties of Thorium Ions

    • P-tert-butylcalix[4]arene[PTBC] and its derivative p-tert-butylcalix[4]arene acetate[PTBCA] were synthesized and its adsorption properties of Th4+ were studied. UV-spectrophotometric analysis shows that the adsorption of thorium using the PTBCA can reach adsorption equilibrium within 2h under the condition of pH=3 and temperature of 30℃. The adsorption rate is 72% and the adsorption capacity is up to 9.0 mg/g. Interfering ions research shows that calixarene derivatives with a carboxyl group is expected to be a good adsorbent for Th4+.
