A STUDY ON THE SELECTIVE ADSORPTION AND DESORPTION OF BROMINE

    • In this paper a selective adsorption and desorption on copper based platinum adsorbent (CBPA) or copper adsorbent (CA) of radiobromine is described indetail Br- can be adsorbed on CBPA or CA in the acid media like sulfurie, phosphoric or tartaric acid at pH≤5.8. The adsorption capacity is about 0.3mg/cm3 CBPA (200-300 mesh) in the usual cycles. In the presence of enough Na2SO3, the adsorption efficiency is≥99.9% before the breakthrough. For 10-200μg Br-and with 6-8 Vc of 0.003 N NaOH, the elution efficiency is≥95% through the 2cm3 column bed (Vc).A flow rate of up to 20 ml/cm2·min exhibits no apparent effect on either adsorption or desorption of Br-.The separation of 82Br from 42K is also described.
