ANALYSIS OF STRONTIUM-90 IN ENVIRONMENTAL SAMPLES WITH DICYCLOHEXYL-18-Crown-6

    • Dicyclohexyl-18-crown-6 is used to analyse strontium-90 of environmental samples by extraction with an average recovery of 81.3% in fall out ash, milk ash, fish ash, vegetable ash using 10g samples. Decontamination factors are greater than 104 for fifteen radionuclides (131I, 111Ce, 99mTc, 141Ce, 140Ba, 239Np,140La, 103Ru, 137Cs,95Zr, 95Nb, 129Te, 100Rh, 99Mo, 147Nd). Xylene is found to be a more convenient diluent than chloroform in extraction. It needs only one day to analyse three samples.
