STUDIES ON SOLIDIFICATION OF SPENT RESIN WITH STYRENE (Ⅰ)

    • Solidification process of spent resin with styrene and characterization of the product are described in this paper. The loading of spent resin in the product is as high as 62 wt%. The product is homogeneous and tough with a yield strength of 239 kg/cm2. Its leaching rate is 10-6cm/d (137Cs) and 10-7-10-8cm/d (60Co, 85Sr) in demineralized water for 120d. It resists radiation>100 Mrad. There is no visible expansion by immersion in water of 40℃ for 1 year. Its flash-point is-270℃, and its burning point is-290℃. Up to 450℃ it doesn't ignite. The thermal analysis indicates that there is no exothermal peak before 235℃.
