Abstract
Using 30% n-octanol/n-dodecane as diluent, the extraction behavior of Am(Ⅲ) and Eu(Ⅲ) from nitric acid solution was studied with 2,6-bis-(5,6-di-isopropyl1,2,4-triazin-3-yl)pyridine (iPr-BTP). By investigating the influences of the concentration of nitric acid, the concentration of iPr-BTP, diluent composition and the contact time and the concentration of NaNO3 on the distribution ratio of Am(Ⅲ) and Eu(Ⅲ), the composition of the extraction complexes and the extraction reaction equation were deduced. The extraction reaction equation may be expressed as follows:
M3++3NO-3+3(iPr-BTP)(o)→M(NO3)3·3(iPr-BTP)(o).The results show that the capability of extracting americium by iPr-BTP is higher than that of extracting europium.
