PREPARATION OF HYDROPHOBIC CATALYST FOR HYDROGEN-OXYGEN RECOMBINATION

    • Palladium on styrene-divinylbenzene copolymer(SDB) , one type of hydrophobic catalysts has been obtained by applying an immersion preparation method. Pd-NSDB catalyst can convert the hydrogen into water well in a hydrgen-oxygen trickle-bed recombiner system that uses water as the coolant at the ambient temperature. A recombination efficiency >99.9% at a space velocity of 60 min -1 mixed gases(1.72%H 2, 1.47%O 2, Ar as equilibrium gas) is routinely obtained for periods exceeding three months in laboratory studies. The activity of hydrophobic catalyst is affected by carrier and preparation technology. The results show that NSDB is a better carrier of preparing hydrophobic palladium catalyst. The influence of reduction time, reduction temperature and metal loading of preparing catalysts on activity is studied. The technology parameters of preparing catalysts are as follows: reduction time, 8~10 h; reduction temperature, 160~220 ℃; and metal loading, 1%.
