DETERMINATION OF ~(40)K IN THE ENVIRONMENTAL SAMPLES

    • Leaching out K from ash of the environmental samples and slag of water samples using HNO 3, as well as from soil using simple acid base are studied. Contents of K in the samples have been determinated with volumetric and gravimetric methods. Effects of some impurity ions are examineted. Relative deviation of volumetric method is 2% and the recovery is 98%~102%. Correlation analysis is completed by γ Spectrum analysis, the determinated result of 40 K in IAEA 326 standard substance fits well with the recommended value. Radioactivity of 40 K is compared with total β in the environmental samples, radioactivity of 40 K is 80% of total β in uncontaminated environmental samples.
