    EXTRACTION OF ZIRCONIUM AND HAFNIUM IN NH4SCN-(NH4)2SO4-HC1-CYCLOHEXANONE.

    • In a study of the extraction of Zr and Hf with NH4SCN-(NH4)2SO4-HC1 cyclohexanone system, variations of the distribution ratio with the concentrations of NH4SCN, (NH4)2SO4, HC1 and cyclohexanone are investigated. The extracted complex compounds of Hf and Zr are determined to be composed of HfCl(SCN)3·8(CH2)5CO and ZrO (SCN)2·8(CH2)5CO respectively. Optimum separation conditions are: 3M NH4SCN, 1.5M (NH4)2SO4, 1.0M HC1 and 100% (CH2) 5CO.
