    STUDY ON EXTRACTION OF THE POLYNUCLEAR COMPLEX OF URANIUM BY QUATERNARY AMMONIUM SALT.

    • In a study of uranium extraction by a quaternary ammonium salt-secondary alcohol in kerosene from nearly neutral ammonium carbonate solution, the composition of the extracted complex is determined by five different methods and found to be (R4N)2UnO3n+1. The Following extraction reaction is proposed:nUO(CO3)4 3+(n + l)H2O + (n-2)H++2R4NCl (R4N)2UnO3n+1+3nHCO3-+2Cl-n=2, 3, 4, 5, 6 Furthermore, the following hydrolysis reaction of uranyl ion is proposed:
