EXTRACTION OF URANIUM WITH DI(2-ETHYL- HEXYL) SULFOXIDE (DEHSO)

    • In the extraction of uranium with DEH30 from nitric acid solution, the distribution coefficients decrease in the follow order of diluents. benzene>kerosene= n-heptane> carbon tetrachloride> chloroform. In these diluents the distribution coefficients of DEHSO are slightly less than those of DOSO. At 4mol/l HNO3, the distribution coefficients reach a maximum in benzene and kerosene. The ratio ofDEHSO to UO22+ in the extracted species is found to be 2 by slope method. The enthalpy associated with its extraction is evaluated.
