Abstract
A mathematical model is proposed for isotopic diffusion across ion exchange membrane. A theoretical equation is developed on the basis of an unsteady-state process taking into account both membrane diffusion and liquid film diffusion. A method for determining simultaneously self-diffusion coefficients in ion exchanger membrane and liquid film thicknesses is described, which has been successfully applied to isotopic diffusion of cesium ion across CM-001 cation exchanger membrane.
