COMPLEXES STUDY OF f BLOCK ELEMENTS-HYDROXYPYRIDINONE SYSTEMS Ⅱ.SYNTHESIS AND CHARACTERIZATION OF Gd(Ⅲ), Th(Ⅳ) COMPLEXES OF HYDROXY-PYRIDINONE SYSTEMS

    • This paper reports that the Gd(Ⅲ) and Th(Ⅳ)complexes of 1-hydroxy-2 (1H)pyridinone(1,2-HOPO) and 3-hydroxy-2(1H)-pyridinone (3,2-HOPO), Gd (OPO)(OH)2·3-4H2O,Th(OPO)(OH)3·6H2O have been prepared when the ratio of hydroxypyridinone to Gd(Ⅲ) or Th(Ⅲ) is one at pH = 9. The complexes are identified by chemical analyses .These complexes are insoluble in quitea few organic solvents---methyl alcohol, ethyl alcohol, acetone, benzene andso on. The infrared and ultraviolet absorption spectra of these complexes are studied. These results are to be used in the design and refinement of actinide specific macro-chelate sequestering agents.
