Abstract
Basic fuchsin is an important red dye often used in printing and dyeing industry, which is one of the principal pollutants of dyeing wastewater. Radiation degradation of basic fuchsin in aqueous solution by 60Co γ-ray was studied. The acidity of basic fuchsin solution increases and some precipitation form after being irradiated. With the increase of absorbed doses, the COD value and the chromaticity of basic fuchsin solution decrease conspicuously, but the infulence of absorbed dose rate is not obvious. Adding H2O2 with low concentration in basic fuchsin solution is beneficial to the removal of COD, but causes the increasing of TOC and decreasing of TIC.
